GULF OF MEXICO (Aug. 1, 2013) F/A-18 Hornets from the U.S. Navy flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, fly over the littoral combat ship Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Coronado (LCS 4) during a training flight over the Gulf of Mexico. While the Blue Angels' 2013 air show season has been canceled due to sequestration, the pilots fly sorties to maintain proficiency in the F/A-18 Hornet. Coronado is scheduled to be commissioned later this year. Bonhomme Richard is the flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently conducting routine joint force operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. Truman (CVN 75) passes the Rock of Gibraltar while transiting the Mediterranean Sea. Harry S. Truman, flagship for the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility. Roosevelt is participating in the George H.W. Bush group sail, further preparing the ship for the upcoming deployment.
