Bonhomme Richard Arrives in Darwin The forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) arrived in Darwin, Australia Aug. 28, for a scheduled port visit. Riverwalk Access to DC Navy Museums Remains Open Through Holiday Weekend The National Museum of the United States Navy, Cold War Gallery and Display Ship Barry as well as the entrance to the Washington Navy Yard through the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail will remain open through the Labor Day holiday. NCHB 3 Decommissioning After 42 Years of Service Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 3 concluded 42 years of service to the Navy during a decommissioning ceremony onboard USS Hornet (CV 12) Museum Aug. 24. Everett Sailors Celebrate Women's Equality Day Sailors and DoD civilians celebrated Women's Equality Day with a ceremony in the Grand Vista Ballroom on Naval Station Everett (NSE), Aug 26. Naval History and Heritage Logo Contest Ending Soon The Navy's Naval History and Heritage Command's (NHHC) logo contest is coming to an end on Sept. 2 at midnight. The summer campaign has offered many artists, naval history enthusiasts and designers the opportunity to showcase their creativity and sense of style with a historic flair. Seabee Pioneer Celebrates 100th Birthday The Navy and the state of North Carolina honored one of the original Navy Seabees from World War II, Jerry Smith of Durham, N.C., who celebrated his 100th birthday at the North Carolina Executive Mansion Aug. 27. SURFPAC Chief Selectees Visit Gravesite of MOH Recipient Lt. John W. Finn A group of 10 chief petty officer (CPO) selectees from the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet (SURFPAC) visited the grave of Medal of Honor (MOH) recipient Lt. John W.
