Overview - Cleanup continues following heavy rain that has caused flooding across southern Wisconsin. Overnight, strong storms hit the Green Bay/Oconto county area causing downed trees and power lines. Most of the power has been restored. Storms are expected this evening across the state bringing additional rain and strong winds. Yesterday, Governor Walker visited Grant and Crawford Counties to view flood damage. He declared a state of emergency for Ashland, Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Richland, St. Croix, and Vernon Counties. Dane County – Cleanup continues following scattered flooding throughout the county. Emergency management officials are gathering damage information from local municipalities and residents. Eau Claire County – Rains caused a mudslide on Highway 53 at the Eau Claire/Chippewa county line. The southbound lanes were closed for about three hours last night as crews removed more than 30 truckloads of soil. Jefferson County – Due to the recent heavy rains, the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management has issued a slow no wake for all county rivers and streams. No reports of current flooding in homes. Kenosha County - The Fox River is currently at 12.47 feet and is predicted to peak at 13 feet on Friday into Saturday before receding. There are several homes affected with water in the lower level. Sheriff Deputies are monitoring the area; there are no requests for sheltering or assistance. Any requests for assistance will be passed onto the Red Cross. A portion of 77th Street and a couple of other dead end roads are closed due to flood water. Despite the heavy rainfall, most of the rivers are at minor flood stage.
Current Road Closures: Crawford County - US 61 is closed in both directions between WIS 60 East and Boscobel because of a mudslide over the roadway. WIS 35 is closed in both directions from Lynxville to Prairie du Chien due to mud slides and debris. Richland County - WIS 60 is closed in both directions between Muscoda and Gotham because of flooding. Walworth County – WIS 11 closed between WIS 89 and Pink’s Lane The State Emergency Operations Center remains at level 4. The Senior Duty Officer and Duty Officer will continue to monitor the situation.
