Nogales, Ariz. - A pair of Mexican nationals were arrested yesterday at the Port of Nogales for attempting to smuggle more than 10 pounds of cocaine into the United States.U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred a 42-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico for additional inspection of his Dodge truck when they attempted to enter the United States. Douglas, Ariz. - A local resident was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle more than 221 pounds of marijuana through the Port of Douglas. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the 34-year-old Douglas man for further inspection of his Mercury van. (more)

Tucson, Ariz. - Joint enforcement operations, focusing on transnational criminal organizations operating in the west desert, resulted in the seizure of 1,372 pounds of marijuana and a stolen 2005 Chevy Tahoe near Cocklebur, Ariz. Early this morning, West Desert Task Force (WDTF) members were alerted by detection technology to possible smuggling activity. (more)

Nogales, Ariz. - A 28-year-old Mexican national is in custody in connection with identity theft charges in Pima County. The man was arrested as he attempted to enter the United States through the Port of Nogales on Thursday.Customs and Border Protection officers referred Yair Aguillon-Guevara, of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection when he attempted to enter through the Dennis DeConcini Port.
