As part of the Building Codes Toolkit developed by FEMA, the purpose of this presentation is to inform and equip property owners about the value of building codes and how they increase occupant safety and disaster resilience. This presentation aims to summarize who the building codes stakeholders are, how they are adopted, and the process for doing so; as well as discuss some of the challenges faced by communities seeking to implement codes and best practice stories of those who have done so successfully.
