USFA Library - Working to Bring Knowledge to Practice This Week's Highlights The Brookings Institute last month released a paper that examines how mobile technology assists in the creation of early warning systems, aids in emergency coordination, and improves public communications in times of crisis. You can read it online here. New in the Prevention and Public Education Exchange - Vision 20/20 Model Programs - innovative fire prevention programs being used around the country, which have measurable impact and outcome measures. Here are the first 14 with more to follow in coming weeks. An article in the July issue of Burn & Care Research entitled, "Enhancing Fire Department Home Visiting Programs: Results of a Community Intervention Trial,"  reported that an "all-hazards" approach to fire department home visit programs should be considered given the high rates of  unsafe water temperatures, lack of carbon monoxide detectors as well as  of working smoke alarms in the households surveyed.
