Senegal is the last stop on a trip where Mabus visited several countries throughout the region to meet with Sailors and Marines, and civilian and military officials to discuss security and stability and to reinforce existing partnerships with African nations. Adm. Bill Gortney, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces, was aboard for the trial and was on the first helicopter to make a regularly scheduled passenger landing on the ship since passing its initial certification.
