The forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) arrived in Darwin, Australia Aug. 28, for a scheduled port visit.

The National Museum of the United States Navy, Cold War Gallery and Display Ship Barry as well as the entrance to the Washington Navy Yard through the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail will remain open through the Labor Day holiday.

The Navy's Naval History and Heritage Command's (NHHC) logo contest is coming to an end on Sept. 2 at midnight. The summer campaign has offered many artists, naval history enthusiasts and designers the opportunity to showcase their creativity and sense of style with a historic flair.

More than 1,000 volunteers, including military, civilian and Harbor Police divers took to the shores of San Diego Bay Aug. 24, to remove trash and debris in the 23rd annual Operation Clean Sweep.
