Fajardo, Puerto Rico - Law enforcement components of the Caribbean Border Interagency Group (CBIG) and the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF) have intercepted approximately 138 kilos (304 pounds) of cocaine, two weapons and approximately $21,400 in currency in ferries arriving from the island municipalities of Vieques and Culebra since January 2013, and six individuals have been arrested during the interventions. Mobile, Ala. - On August 27, during a joint maritime operation, CBP air and marine agents and a CBP officer rescued a boater and his two canine companions from their small-capsized craft.While on patrol during a 3-day operation, a CBP marine vessel came upon a small overturned craft, which had left the stranded seaman and his two canines standing on the bottom hull of the craft. Niland, Calif. - On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio station seized an ultra-light aircraft loaded with 189 pounds of marijuana and over 12 pounds of methamphetamine one mile west of highway 111 near Niland. The incident took place at approximately 8:20 a. (more)

Nogales, Ariz. -Two Mexican nationals and a local woman were arrested Tuesday at the Port of Nogales for attempting to smuggle more than 36 pounds of methamphetamine into the United States.U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred a 23-year-old male Mexican national for an additional inspection of his Ford SUV at the DeConcini Port of Entry. Detroit - U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol Michael J. Fisher together with incoming Chief Patrol Agent of the Detroit Sector Mario Martinez broke ground today on a new $17 million station in Detroit. This new state of the art facility is replacing the current station that is located at 1331 Atwater Street in Detroit. (more)
