Texas, July 27, 2013 -- FEMA volunteers work with other volunteers for four hours to help sort, inventory, pack, and move boxes to a larger warehouse where the Community Emergency Response Team can access and pack their gear more quickly and easily, improving the speed and organization of their emergency responses. Thanks to their effort, the materials from three smaller storage units have now been consolidated into one central location.

Holister, Mo., Aug. 15, 2013 -- After flooding in Southern Missouri, a Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) team consisting of representatives of FEMA, State and local officials inspect an area effected by flooding. PDA is a joint assessment used to determine the magnitude and impact of an event's damage. The State uses the results of the PDA to determine if the situation is beyond the combined capabilities of the State and local resources and to verify the need for supplemental Federal assistance.
