Growing Up in Cancer Alley by Dr. Beverly Wright

Have you seen the video that everyone is talking about? Watch the newest contribution to EPA's 20th Anniversary of Environmental Justice Video Series, featuring one of the founding members of the environmental justice movement, Dr. Beverly Wright. Dr.  Wright  powerfully describes life growing up in the Mississippi River Chemical Corridor, also known as 'Cancer Alley', and how the pollution from facilities affected the surrounding communities' health and well-being. She articulates the importance of educating the next generation of environmental leaders to begin the transformation to a truly sustainable society.

Also, check out our other videos from our 20th Anniversary Video Series, including videos from former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, Sacoby Wilson of  the University of Maryland, and Dr. Mildred McClain from the Harambee House, among others. Check it out today!

Don't forget to check out our previous blogs as well. The most recent posting was written by student researchers asking for feedback on mapping environmental justice hotspots as a part of the Environmental Justice Organizations, Liability and Trade (EJOLT) Project. Another recent post written by Aissia Richardson discusses the immense success a Philadelphia community experienced by reclaiming a dangerous and polluted vacant lot.  We also featured a new blog penned by the outgoing Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin, on the importance of environmental justice as a means to improve public health.
