PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL GUARD TRACES GETTYSBURG LINEAGE FOR 150TH ANNIVERSARY
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (7/9/13) - Recognized as one of the pivotal battles during the Civil War, Gettysburg is the site of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and a bloody battle that lasted for three days. Nine Pennsylvania National Guard organizations have units that still carry the Gettysburg battlefield streamer.

KENTUCKY NATIONAL GUARD BIDS FAREWELL TO ITS ERSTWHILE SHERPAS
FRANKFORT, Ky. (7/9/13) - Current and retired Kentucky National Guard members gathered today to say farewell to one of the Guard's long-standing aircraft at Capital City Airport here." MONTANA FATHER AND SON SERVING SIDE BY SIDE IN AFGHANISTAN
KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - When it comes to deployments, the hardest part for many soldiers is saying goodbye to their loved ones, especially to their children. For 1st Sgt. Glenn Myers, with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion-Montana National Guard, he did not have to bid farewell to one child, because Alex, his son, is deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, with him.

CHAPLAIN DUTIES HIT HOME FOR COLORADO NATIONAL GUARD CLERGYMAN
PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (7/11/13) - First Lt. Justin Cowan, chaplain, said he knew the day he walked out his door in early June to see huge plumes of smoke - the beginnings of the West Fork Complex fire - there was a possibility the Colorado National Guard would be called to help his community.
