SAN DIEGO (Aug. 26, 2013) Sailors man the rails aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) as it returns to San Diego following completion of Pacific Partnership 2013 deployment. During the deployment, the ship's crew supported non-governmental organizations and regional partner nations to complete projects in Papua New Guinea, the Republic of Kiribati, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, the Solomon Islands and Tonga. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.
